With more than 40 years of journalism experience, Mike McCourt is a veteran reporter with Citynews. His career has involved extensive work overseas, including coverage of the Viet Nam war in 1972 and 1973. Mike also spent seven years as a Parliamentary Corresponent with CTV News in Ottawa, and a term as CTV Bureau Chief in Washington, D.C.While with ABC News Intercontinental, he was posted to Johannesburg, Cairo, and Rome, and was the main ABC correspondent during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. Overall, Mike earned international respect as a foreign correspondent covering news in 52 countries around the world. With Mike at Citynews, viewers have come to expect compelling stories about the people, places and things that help shape Alberta.
Education:
Mike took his high school matriculation in Saskatoon, and undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan.
Extracurricular:
Mike devotes most of his spare time to reading (history, biography, contemporary fiction), or listening to a jazz collection, both vinyl and CD, which has been rated as world-class. He also finds time for an occasional round of golf.
Mike is proud to call Calgary home.
