Do you tweet? Oprah Winfrey does. So do Hollywood stars Ashton Kutcher and Ben Stiller. Twitter has never been more popular than it is right now, and 22 year-old Peter Danihel wants in on the action.
"I see all these celebrities and stuff using it all the time and i just thought i have to do somethign with this while its big." said Danihel a Mount Royal University student.
So Danihel came up with an idea so bizarre it just might work. He's calling it The Twitter Lottery. It's a chance to win big money just by following him on Twitter. Everytime someone clicks on his website, money gets thrown into a jackpot. Follow him on Twitter and the jackpot will grow even higher. If you want to win, all you have to do is follow him on Twitter. So what's the catch?
"There's no catch at all! That's the beauty of it. You follow and that's your ticket." said Danihel.
Sound too good to be true? Many of Danihel's fellow students on campus think so. Many believe it's a scam. Truth is, the money comes from advertisers. Danihel has advertisers lined up, willing to pitch in money for the jackpot knowing the site will generate traffic from people who want to see how high the jackpot has grown.
"I will take a small cut. I'm not going to make the jackpot two thousand dollars and im making 50. I want to be fair and make at least half of it go if not more." said Danihel.
Danihel doesn't think he's breaking any rules. Since he's not charging people or collecting personal information, he believes he's exempt from lottery laws. Come Christmas Day, Danihel says he'll be ready to dish out the cash to one lucky follower who put their faith into his lottery.
