Boutik at 119 - 12th Avenue S.W. is a small shop - just over 300 square feet. It's a personal environment and a unique shopping experience in Calgary.

"I've had the opportunity to experience a lot of the boutiques in Los Angeles, as well as Montreal, Toronto, and as well as Europe," said Boutik owner Kim Stern. "For what I'm trying to do, what I'm trying to perceive, that image, what we're trying to put across to people, is a lifestyle store, a one-stop shop, where from head to toe, I can work with you."

With one-on-one consulting, Stern makes trends work, even with celebrity favorites - like the skinny jean.

"Jessica Alba lives in these!" said Stern. "It lifts the bootie up, the jean because of the pocket." Stern says it's the heart shape on the pocket tha makes the difference.

"I had a lady come in yesterday, she was 48 or 49 years old, and she bought a pair.... I wouldn't say that anybody could or could not pull it off, I think it just takes putting them on and seeing how you feel. I don't think there's any rule set for them."

If you're still not sold on the skinny jean, there are other choices hand picked for Boutik.

"This dress is out of Vancouver. It can be worn eight different ways," said Stern. "This dress I found flattering on absolutely everyone that put it on."

For finishing touches, there are shoes, purses and cosmetics to personalize the outfit.

"This is why I'm in this business, because I love people and I love making people feel good about themselves," said Stern.
