Master Corporal Paul Franklin is with the Canadian Armed Forces.
He was raised in Calgary and joined the military in 1999.
During his second tour of Afghanistan, he worked as a medical technician.
In January of last year his life changed forever.
Here's some of what he had to say to the rotary club about a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan.
