"You really want to hear it from the students and when you get there it's a completely different story," says David Diamond, co-founder of Utours. After graduating university David Diamond and his two brothers decided it was time to tell the truth about campus life. So they created a DVD with a behind the scenes look at universities across the country. "We started with a pilot episode and basically found that students were so enthused with the project, because they are like: 'Yeah, that is something that I could have used when I was going through the selection process.'" says Diamond.
After touring 20 popular Canadian universities, they posted video tours on their new website at www.utours.ca. "We broke it down into five sections, which is academic, which of course is important. There's the setting, campus life, the housing, you want to see what it's like and there's the night life," says Diamond. The video according to the Diamond brothers isn't a promotional video for the universities, instead they want to show what students really think about their campus experiences. "At the end of the day, it's more about being honest and an honest third party review rather than another resource that tells you why their university is the best," says Diamond.
