Yes, it is pretty isn't it, just don't ask a lot from the Macbook Air.

You've seen the commercials. Maybe even seen them in the stores. They look impressive but the Macbook Air isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Sure it is thin! Macbook Air is only .76 inches at it's thickest point and weighs a mere 3 pounds. But beauty is only skin deep.
To start there is no DVD or CD drive. Apple has come up with a new technology that allows you to "borrow" the drive of another computer on your home network. This works great to transfer files from DVD to your Macbook air or even install programs. But that is where it ends. You can't burn files onto DVD or CD using this technology. You can't even watch a DVD movie from a remote PC. Disappointing.
The other issue is the battery. Apple says it will last approximately five hours. A decent amount of time for most users but since it is located inside the computer it's not easily accessible. In other words forget bringing along extra batteries for those long road trips.
Macbook air does have a lot of nice feature. An aluminum case, 13 inch screen, full sized backlit keyboard with multi-touch on the trackpad. One model even has a solid state hard drive to make it rough and durable. But the high price ($1899 - $3248) and lack of DVD drive makes it hard to recommend as someone's main computer. This is ideal as a second computer in your home or for someone who travels a lot and only needs access to email and the internet.
