Gaget Guy: Wireless Stereo Speakers
Wireless stereo, is that possible?

- - - STORY CONTINUES BELOW IMAGE - - -
Where do you hide your wires? Under the carpet, behind the baseboards, maybe beneath the rug? If you own a surround sound system you know it can be a hassle to hide all the wires involved with the setup. Acoustic Research is attempting to change with its WHT6024.

This 5.1 surround sound system separates itself from the rest of the pack with it's wireless claim. Usually each speaker is tethered to the audio video receiver by speakers wires. The WHT6024 uses a special transmitter that wirelessly sends signal to the rear channel speakers so no wires are needed.

The system looks good and performs reasonably well. Bu that's not to say it doesn't have its drawbacks.

While Acoustic Research uses the term wireless that's only partially true. Each of the rear speakers has to be plugged into the wall for power. This isn't a problem if you have electrical outlets near the speakers but can be a real pain if you have to pull out the extension cords.
