City Scene: The Gin Game
A great play for Verigo and the local arts community.

The Vertigo Theatre's latest play, 'The Gin Game' is a bitter-sweet comedy about two nursing home residents whose relationship develops though playing a card game. Fonsia Dorsey plays the fiesty Clarice Evans and Weller Martin brings his charm to play Arnold Dvorkin. Through the game their misfortunes and losses are exposed in funny and increasingly heated moments until all their cards are on the table. The play is a Pulitzer Prize winner which debuted on Broadway in 1977, later touring the world.

The play is a fundraiser for Ghost River Theatre and Performing Arts Lodge of Calgary.
Ghost River Theatre is the only professional theatre company in Calgary that produces exclusively new work, and is renowned for ambitious, politically-charged, collaboratively-created premiere productions. Performing Arts Lodge of Calgary is a non profit charitable organization dedicated to providing affordable housing, care and a sense of community for disadvantaged and disabled individuals who work in or have worked in the performing arts industry with priority given to seniors. This includes not only those in front of the audience or camera, but those behind the scenes as well.

Tickets are available by calling the Vertigo Theatre Ticket Office at (403) 221-3708.
