Gadget Guy: Wireless Home Monitoring Camera
Provided it works, it is a great way to make sure those kids don't have a house wrecker while you are on holiday.

"I wonder what the kids are doing?" Have you ever said that to yourself while on vacation? Well if you have, wonder no more. Linksys has come up with a way to "spy" on your home from just about anywhere, as long as you have internet access.

The Linksys Internet Home Monitoring Camera is just like a webcam, but it can do so much more. Hook it up to your home network, install some software on your computer and your set. The software will bring up a live view from the camera. See something suspicious? Click a button and a photo will be taken and stored on your computer's hard drive. The camera can be set up to record video around the clock, set up to record during certain hours, or when it senses motion. It can even be set up to email you when it senses motion in your home. Not only will you get an email, but you will also get a five second video showing you what was recorded.

The Linksys Internet Home Monitoring Camera has a lot of great features but they don't always work. We tried setting the camera up on two separate networks and experienced a lot of problems. There were times when the camera would just go black. The only way to bring it back to life was to re-install the software. You will also need a high speed internet connection, or you'll get plenty of lag. Frustrating when you want to get a good picture of what's happening.

If you have patience and plenty of time to tinker you might want to check out The Linksys Internet Home Monitoring Camera. If you're looking for plug and play, you may want to stay clear.
