Bill C-51 Begining to Cause Waves
Parliment's controversial bill-C51 is begining to cause some concern.

Herbal healing is a path many choose to take. Greg Doram is one of them. He attributes his healthy immune system to natural supplements.

"I'd say I get maybe one cold every two years," says Doram. However, he may have to take a more traditional route to getting over his cold. Bill C-51 is proposing to regulate natural health products. It may be enough to take some off the shelves completely.

Local Pharmacist Brian Jones supports the bill. He warns some natural products contain medicinal properties in order to work, which could be dangerous.  "Chances are it's going to be very similar to something that's maybe available by prescription," says Jones. "So it's going to interact with other medications."
Natural health products are found in pharmacies, however some of them are not certified. It makes it difficult to know how many ingredients are in them and what they are.

Unfortunately, Jones says if products require testing, costs may go up for the consumer as well.
