The 2008 Skills Canada competition is on!
The annual competition is underway in many Canadian regions, giving High School students a chance to showcase skill sets and learn more about specific trades.
Coordinator Deanna Fraser says the best part about the competiton is seeing students get excited about their future.
"They get to see what kind of opportunities are open to them once they leave high school. This competition is really great for the students because it helps them decide on their career path and what their future is going to look like," she said.
Students successful in the South Western Alberta competition will carry on and compete provincially. Although winning is appealing, many students participated for another reason entirely.
"For me, it was just kind of about getting the experience and stuff and gettting out there and seeing things people are doing and what's out there, " said High School student Janay Jones.
