The much delayed south-west leg of the LRT looks like it will be rerouted.

The new west leg of the LRT may cost even more money and take longer to build. The city is responding to concerned residents with a new plan for the route.
The city's proposed changes to the LRT's west leg, may not be enough to get everyone on board.
The Best West LRT Committee will meet with the city at 7'oclock on May 13th. The group of residents were opposed to the original design. There were concerns about the elevated portion over the communities of Sunalta and Scarboro.
The city, however, says the proposed changes will push the LRT further away from residential homes and into the center median of Bow Trail.
It will see only part of the LRT elevated over the east bound Bow Trail ramp. In the end all the changes will run tax payers $20 million extra.
"It's very similar to what you would see on Crowchild in the northwest," says Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier.
However, unlike Crowchild, Bow Trail north and southbound will have to be widened to accommodate the new LRT. City Alderman John Mar of Ward 8 says it's money that would have been spent anyways.
"The LRT portion of it is cheaper cause it's at grade versus elevated," says Mar. "But there's an associated cost with the widening of Bow Trail something we were willing to do several years in the future."
The widening of Bow Trail will also mean construction will take longer.
The proposed changes will go to committee on May 21st, and then to council the first week of June. The city is hoping to start on the line next year, and hope to finish it in 2012.
