Forty dead, three circling the drain and now the police called in.

The investigation into the deaths of most of the stingrays at Calgary zoo, has taken a step towards the sinister. A vet at the zoo, Dr. Doug Whiteside, says it is likely a toxin was added to the water. This could have been by mistake or intentionally. His comments come after it was confirmed the water environment created by the zoo was correct. The next step for the zoo was to call the police for help.

At this point the message from the zoo changes somewhat. Standing from a police podium, the zoo's Facility Manager Ted Trewella, says if you ask the vets, a toxin being added is the lowest thing on the radar. When asked why then bring in the police, the answer is "it is prudent". But not prudent enough to bring them in three days ago when the tragedy started, or two days ago when 34 were dead, or even yesterday when 7 more died. Today is the day nothing new happened according to Trewella. Confusing?

The next step is to wait for the toxicology reports. for more information click on the link.
