Derelict Houses To Be Torn Down
Abandoned houses slated for demolition have become more than a neighbourhood eyesore.

Three police cars sit parked outside a home in Bowness. Officers inside searching the property. This is no raid. This is a cleaning service.

The home along with two others, stands derelict waiting for the day bulldozers inevitably come. The problem is that wait started two year ago and instead of bulldozers, Bowness got drugs. Calgary police officer Jud Niven says the buildings are being used by homeless people to 'flop', his comments come as a fellow officer bags up a bunch of needles collected from the house. After a short chat with a concerned resident and it is time to move on, but niven will return. "We try to come by on a regular basis, day and night, calls permitting, to just check out the residencies and make sure that nobody is in there."

Residents are calling for the properties to be demolished. And their wait may soon be over. Click on the link to find out what Citytv's investigation into the problem found and what the owners are saying.
