She holds 13 world championship titles and ten national titles and now BMX racer Samantha Cools hopes to earn a dream title at the Beijing Games

Winning gold would mean everything to the 22 year-old Airdrie local. From an early age, Cools set out to accomplish her goals, for years training at her hometown track. Now, fans and family are wishing her well.

"It has been upbeat. Everyone is cheering for her. You can see the Olympic flag is up in honor of her and the Olympics," says Tim Croft.

As president of the Airdrie BMX Association, Croft has seen Cools grow as an athlete, but he's hardly the only one. Proud father John Cools says it means everything to see his daughter succeed. "It has been kind of exciting. The whole family is going to be over in Beijing, me and my wife is really excited to go and watch Samantha compete."

The televised event will air August 20th in Calgary.
