Ottawa-based Zoom Airlines confirms it has suspended all operations.
Hundreds of Zoom Airlines passengers were stranded in Canada and Britain after the small Canadian airline stopped operations
unexpectedly.
"Nobody wants to see operations grind to a halt with an airline carrier," says Bryce Paton of the Calgary Airport Authority. But that's exactly what happened in Calgary Wednesday when the owner of the Zoom operated Boeing 767 suddenly terminated their lease.
"They have a number of recieverships," said Paton, adding "there's responsibilities that companies have to those they are responsible to." Zoom has begun insolvency proceedings in both Canadian and UKcourts. Zoom employed 450 people in Canada and 260 in the United Kingdom
before the shutdown.
