Up All Night

Last night I was up not once, not twice, but three times with my youngest. I noticed the dregs of milk in a baby bottle on my first visit to the nursery that night (1:30am) which means she had already been up at least once before then with my husband.

By my third (groan) visit to Eva’s nursery I started thinking very hard about what in the heck was keeping her up?! Sleep deprivation can focus you. It can also scramble your brains so not once did I think to give her a dose of Camilia.

Eva has been dribbling like a water fountain since she was about three months old. You’d think, at nine months, she’d have a full set of teeth by now. But apparently her little piano keys are taking their sweet time.  So she spends most of her days gumming everything she can get her hands on. That includes her brother’s toy dump trucks, bath toys, random Yop bottles and (I shouldn’t even be sharing this) ahem, my sneaker shoe laces. In fact, it was my personal trainer who asked me what in the world was going on with my laces in the middle of some intense ab work. They’re all flayed and chewed up. I told her my baby liked to suck on them and she told me to NEVER REPEAT THAT TO ANYONE. Oh well.

The point is, if I had had my wits about me, I would have popped open a single dose of Camilia and given it to her at one (or all) of my nighttime visits because in retrospect it has GOT TO BE THE TEETH that is keeping her up. So tonight I’ve learned my lesson. And because sleep is the elusive jackpot of all parents with babies I thought I’d share this tip with you.

I’ve been working with Boiron, the company that makes Camilia, to make sure helpless parents know they can have some control over their baby’s teething pain. You may have heard of Camilia before because many parents swear by it. In fact, many of us parents have already tweeted back and forth about where to find Camilia (Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart) and how it works so you already know. But for those who don’t, the thing I like the best about it is that it can’t harm your child in any way. You can’t overdose, it’s all natural so the most it can do for you is help. Sigh of relief right?

As an added bonus if you go to www.camiliasmiles.com you can actually send in gorgeous photos of your babe (with or without teeth) and win thousands of dollars worth of prizes! Pretty much a win-win situation.

But back to the sleep issue.

Just between me and you I’ll let you in on a little secret. Because Camilia contains traces of calming chamomile some parents whisper about a special side effect…Camilia making their baby sleepy. Whoa, hold on a sec…don’t all race to the store at once! Not everyone has the same experience but…can it hurt to try? The answer is, no it absolutely cannot.

So I’m counting on my Camilia to work TONIGHT!

Momma needs her beauty sleep in big way.

You can email me your experiences with Camilia at contacttracy@cityline.ca

I’m banking on NOT being up at 3am to read your emails!
