The Cure for Snot

Eva Cheerios

Even before the end of Labour Day weekend the snot had returned.

Many parents associate the beginning of cold and flu season with the first few months of  school but my toddler is in daycare year round. So really, the snot has just been in hiding, waiting to make a re-appearance.

The joy of having more than one child however, is that whomever gets the snot, cough or flu first gets to pass it to all of the siblings.

Fun.

Right now it’s Eva’s turn to play pass-the-snot. This is her in less snotty times “helping” me by unloading a bag of Cheerios (thanks hon).

I’ve had the pleasure of using Boiron products since I first received some in a swag bag at a baby expo. I’ve been a convert ever since. Now I work with Boiron to get the message out to parents who may be feeling helpless with sick little ones.

Take right now for instance.

Fourteen month-old Eva, is swimming in snot. At one year of age, there aren’t a lot of over-the-counter products I can give her when she’s sick. Right now I’m giving her one unit of Coryzalia three times a day. I’ve been doing this ever since I started using Boiron and (knock on wood) neither Eva, nor big brother Sidney, have had a huge bout of sickness. Could you knock on wood again please? I’m not trying to test fate.

I’ll spend some subsequent blogs talking about my experiences with Stodal and Oscillococcinum, two other Boiron products I often use in tandem with Coryzalia. But for now I want to focus on Coryzalia because it’s a life saver in its own right.

The thing I love about it most is that it’s easy to administer. It comes in a little tube so you just rip off the top and squirt it in baby’s mouth.

I don’t know about you but my baby tries to kick me in the face at each diaper change. And she’s strong.

So the easier it is to get the medicine in her moving target mouth, the better it is for mom.

Secondly, I love the fact that no matter what, it won’t hurt her. It can’t make her drowsy or dopey so I don’t lose anything by giving it to her.

Thirdly, I love that so far, it works!

There are few things as distressing as having a nursing baby that can’t suck because her nose is stuffed up. Or a bottle-loving babe who can’t feed for all the crap in her nose. Any parent knows getting rid of the sickness fast is the big goal and that’s why I swear by Coryzalia. Any questions just email me at: contacttracy@cityline.ca
