It is the official start to Black History Month! Yes it's the shortest and coldest of all the months of the year...but that's no reason not to kick it off right.
Citytv has always been known for it's backing of diverse programming and faces.
That's why this station is the official sponsor of the Ontario Black History Society's annual kick-off brunch.

The event happened on Sunday, January 29th and I was honoured to be the emcee.
I was lucky enough to be seated beside the honorable David Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. He's come a long way since we shared a microphone at the same news desk. Lawyer Julian Falconer was the keynote speaker (right behind me in photo); Rosemary Sadlier is the head of the Ontario Black History Society and organized the entire event; and Chief Armand Labarge of York Region police (beside Rosemary) kept me company all afternoon with wit and good
humour.

A fantastic afternoon indeed. Let's keep it going all month.
