With Ramsin Khachi's easy intructions, building a DIY craft table is a snap!

Ramsin's Ultimate DIY Craft Table

Instructions:

1.  Start with a basic wooden table.

2.  Cut out a rectangular shape in the center of the table and away from any of the table framework.

3.    Using ½” to ¾” thick Plywood, create a box where the inside dimensions of the box are the same as the inside of the table cutout.  Be sure to consider the items that will be displayed within the table as the depth of the box needs to accommodate tallest of these. For example; if you are going to do a landscape scene with a train, you have to consider the tallest hills and or tree heights within the landscape.

4.    Mount the box to the underside of the table, centered and lined up with the cutout in the table, using angle brackets and wood screws.

5.    Using ½ inch MDF, cut strips that will line the inside perimeter of the box. The measurement of these strips should be taken from the bottom platform of the box to the top surface of the table, less the thickness of the glass being used. Nail the strips into place. The glass will rest here to sit flush with the table surface.

Paint the interior to suit your décor. In the case of the one shown, we painted it white.

6.    Purchase the required size of Laminated Safety or Tempered Glass to fit the opening of the table top.

7.    Place your desired scenery inside and then place the glass on top.

8.    If you are to use a model train set that has remote controls the wires can be fed from under the insert box and the controls can be mounted on the side of the table.

9.    If you need to access the scenery inside you will need a glass suction device that will help lift the glass.

ENJOY!!
