Stacey Brotzel
News Anchor, Breakfast Television
Running on pure news adrenaline, Stacey wakes up at 3:30AM to begin her day as news anchor for Breakfast Television - keeping Edmontonians “in the know”!
Born in Saskatoon, Stacey moved around a lot, but always found a way back to Edmonton. Before coming to Breakfast Television she worked for a variety of local television stations including ITV (Global Edmonton), CHBC in Kelowna, BBS in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and CKY in Winnipeg. In 1997 she became an original team member of Citytv Edmonton and has been here ever since!
If it wasn’t for Stacey’s sixth grade teacher, Stacey might be a scientist today. At the bottom of one of her short stories, Ms.Clement wrote "great story, maybe one day you will be a journalist." Stacey kept that in the back of her mind through high school and during the year of Science at the University of Alberta until she made her way to NAIT‘s television program.
At the end of the day, Stacey loves to go home to her little girl, who can always make her smile. Stacey is obsessed with reality television, cooking shows and LOVES Rod Stewart! In her spare time, Stacey does a lot of work for Meals on Wheels and is a big supporter of Terra Centre for Pregnant and Mothering Teens and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Radio and Television Arts Program, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
“This is a hard question. It should be what I ‘hate’ about my job. It’s extremely rare that I don’t look forward to coming into work... and
that’s after more than 4 years of working weekends, and a year of working at 5 a.m.. Crazy, I know. I love that my day is never the same... and relish the opportunities to do things most people will never get to do.
