Show Synopsis

2 BROKE GIRLS is a comedy about the unlikely friendship that develops between two very different young women waitressing at a diner in trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn, who form a bond over their dream of one day owning a successful cupcake business. Only one thing stands in their way — they’re broke. Sarcastic, streetwise Max Black (series star KAT DENNINGS) meets the sophisticated, school-smart Caroline Channing (series star BETH BEHRS) when the former trust fund princess loses all her money due to her father’s Wall Street scandal, and reluctantly has to give waitressing a shot. At first, Max sees Caroline as an entitled rich girl, but she’s surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max’s knack for baking amazing cupcakes, she sees a lucrative future for them and they begin to save money to reach their start-up goal of $250,000. As the girls’ tally expands week to week, they become closer to their goal … and closer as friends.

At the diner, they are surrounded by their offbeat, colorful “family”: Oleg (series star JONATHAN KITE), an overly flirtatious cook; Earl (series star GARRETT MORRIS), a hip 75-year-old cashier and all-around cool cat; Han (series star MATTHEW MOY), the eager-to-please owner of the diner; and Sophie (series star JENNIFER COOLIDGE), the girls’ outrageous upstairs neighbor who comes by the diner as often as she does Max and Caroline’s apartment for a cupcake fix. As Max and Caroline climb toward their goal, we see that “smarts” plus “hearts” might just be the recipe for success. At the end of season two, Max and Caroline discover an extra room inside the diner with a window to the street — a perfect spot for their cupcake shop!
