Byron's divorced parents came together to visit the mansion and meet the ladies. Byron's Mom suggested he was ready to settle down. Byron was unsure if Mary would bring her parents because they were hurt during her previous appearance on The Bachelor.
In a huge leap of faith, she brought them to the mansion. Byron believed she had completely invested herself in the relationship. Byron and Mary's dad, who was a fisherman in Cuba, hit it off. Byron told him that his intention was to find a soul mate.
At dinner, Mary said she fell for him almost immediately. Byron, touched that she was sharing these emotions with him, said he was completely enamored by her. Mary pulled Byron's mom aside and told her that she was falling in love and wanted to be his wife. Back at the table, Byron's dad fully approved of her. At the end of the night, Byron's mom said she was impressed but needed a basis of comparison.
The next night, Tanya's mom made a visit. She was skeptical that anyone could develop true feelings in such a short time. Byron told his parents that Tanya was as beautiful inside as outside. She told his parents that she secured enough to deal with his lifestyle and long absences. Tanya answered his father's question by saying she would be married soon.
At dinner, Byron's dad asked Tanya why she originally picked Jay. She laughed it off and said she didn't have enough information at the time. Her mom noticed how much they had in common. Byron's mom spoke privately with Tanya, asked her how she felt about engagement. Tanya said that she was falling in love with him. Byron's mom thoguht she was the real deal.
After the two nights, Byron's mom still didn't have a read on the situation. His parents were impressed with both but wanted Byron to make his own decision.
In Byron's hometown of Lake Mead, Tanya was comfortable with his friends Jason, Carrie, Mike and Monica. She declared that she was the better choice. Tanya again said she didn't mind Byron's lifestyle. She also said she'd marry him. Monica believed she was low maintenance but Carrie suggested that maybe they were too comfortable. Byron and Tanya canoodle when they went out on the lake together.
Mary arrived the next day and said his time with Tanya weighed on her. Several of Byron's friends were dubious because they remember her from a previous Bachelor but she dispelled their fears, promising that she was not in love with the idea of marriage and wasn't interested in Byron simply to win. She told everyone that she would have bolted this show but Byron convinced her to stay. Mike finally believed Mary was the better choice. Mary and Byron took a helicopter ride over the Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon.
Byron purchased an engagement ring. He said he had fallen in love with someone that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with but it would be difficult to let the other one go. Tanya said she had difficulty sleeping. Mary hoped for the fairytale ending. They prepared.
Tanya arrived. Byron said she was beautiful inside and out. He remembered their good times and feelings, he said, but he hadn't fallen in love with her. She was crushed. He said he cherished her and apologized to her and thanked her for inspiring him. She said she was speechless for a lot of reasons; that she felt like a fool who'd been lied to. She said he broke her heart. He escorted her to the car. He felt terrible but vowed to stay focused and moved forward. He told us that he would do this a million times to get to Mary. In the car, Tanya was utterly crestfallen.
A nervous Mary arrived. He told her that he was blessed, he was in love with her and that she was everything he wanted. He said that he could't see himself spending another minute without her as his wife. He kneeled and proposed to her in Spanish. He slipped the ring on her finger as she accepted. They kissed passionately and he gave her the final rose.
