TYRA BANKS
Tyra Banks, creator and executive producer of America's Next Top Model, is a native of Los Angeles.
Banks began a modeling career in Europe and evolved into a well-respected supermodel. She is the first African-American woman to appear on the covers of GQ, Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue and Victoria's Secret catalog. She received the prestigious Micheal Award for Supermodel of the Year.
Other notable contracts include Swatch, Cover Girl, Nike, Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Dolce $ Gabbana. She also had recurring roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Felicity.
Banks founded Tzone, a weeklong summer camp for teenage girls, she established "The Tyra Banks Scholarship," which grants African-American girls the opportunity to attend her alma mater, Immaculate Heart High School, a private girls school located in Los Angeles. She is also the founder of Ty Ty Baby Productions. |
