Many music videos have been inspired by photographs, but does it ever work the other way around?
Certainly, and proof of as much is currently on display at the
Sleeping Giant Gallery (789 Dundas St. West) until June 19 as part of an exhibition appropriately entitled
The Art Of Music Video
.
Presented are still images, frozen moments from several recent notable musical shorts, an aim at blurring the lines between photography and videography and all the creative elements inherent in both.
The exhibition is presented by notable video director RT! and features work from shoots helmed by Bruce McDonald, Charles Officer, David Mewa,
Marc Andre Debruyne and Cazhhmere, to name a few.
Donations collected during the show's run, which kicked with a party Friday night, go to local charity
Remix Project, an outreach to at-risk youth looking to start careers in the urban arts sector.
