E-readers may be all the rage this year, but a Toronto-made stop-motion film about the secret lives of books has made a splash online.

Art director Sean Ohlenkamp set his 1:52-minute film in the independent Type bookstore on Queen Street West, across from Trinity Bellwoods Park.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the short film about books coming to life after hours, entitled The Joy of Books, had garnered more than 300,000 views on YouTube — two days after it was posted.

Ohlenkamp found inspiration for the project, which took a team of 25 people to make, while organizing his bookshelf at home.
