An exhibit showcasing the roots and global influence of the Rastafarian movement opens Wednesday afternoon at the Royal Ontario Museum and it includes free screenings of a documentary featuring reggae legend Bob Marley’s granddaughter.

The centerpiece of the RasTa exhibit — the documentary RasTa: A Soul’s Journey — follows Marley’s granddaughter Donisha Prendergast to eight countries, including Canada, Ethiopia, England, South Africa and Jamaica, where she learns how Rasta has affected cultures around the world.

There are eight free screenings of the film, including one at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, and the RasTa exhibit also includes activities for kids, music and storytelling.

There are also several Black History Month activities happening across the city over the next few weeks, including a number of events organized by the Toronto Public Library.
