Healey's Roadhouse Fundraiser Honours Namesake

Saturday night, the Roadhouse was rocking as bands played late to honour the memory of Jeff Healey. The famed guitarist passed away two weeks ago, at the age of 41.

Healey had battled cancer his entire life. Retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer, took his sight when he was just a baby.  But he learned to play guitar, went on to world wide fame and critical praise, and founded the club that still bears his name.

The benefit raised money for Daisy's Eye Cancer Fund, a program helps families whose children are fighting the same disease that robbed Healey of his vision.

It didn't take his ambition. In addition to mastering the guitar, Healey was also a jazz trumpeter. He will be honoured next month with the Artist of Distinction award at the National Jazz Awards in Toronto
