Feist Plays Secret Intimate Show At The Cameron House

In Toronto, out came a sign
Of wood, nails, it wasn't fine

Last night, it said there's been a heist
A stage was taken, taken by Feist

A crowd arrived, a line up made
It might be time for another raid

A Queen still true, the King a spouse
In Came Ron, a real full House

A lady watches, ten times an ant
If after eight: late, late, pant, pant

While many artists would choose to announce their newest gig in a much less cryptic fashion, most Canadian singer-songwriters aren't featured in iPod commercials.

The above poem appeared on the website of Feist, known worldwide for songs like "1234" and "Mushaboom." The global success had led to shows at the Air Canada Centre, and homes in Calgary, Paris and Toronto.

But it appears she still longs for the small stage. Feist was back in the Big Smoke Tuesday for a surprise show at the Rivoli.

And she doesn't appear to be done yet - the poem was a riddle that told fans of an intimate gig Wednesday at the Cameron House.

With a maximum capacity of just 100 people, it was a far cry from the maximum capacity arenas she may be used to.

And though the riddle initially appeared impenetrable, a quick email to an Arts and Crafts representative confirmed it:

"You are correct!  Feist will be performing a set at 9pm tonight.  Unfortunately there will be no media access tonight," wrote David Tysowski.

But the access fans received had the die-hards happy as can be.

"A show like this really awards people who are actually fans, as opposed to people who are able to secure tickets," said attendee Myles Stocker.

"She's keeping her roots, she's true to her city," added Adrian Chalaturnyk. "It's great."

Feist also has shows set for Massey Hall and the Air Canada Centre this weekend.
