Up in the Air (Blu-ray) CityNews.ca Pick of the Week - I
gave
Up in the Air five stars when it was released in the theatre
and also put it at the top of my
Best Films of 2009 list. After
watching it again on Blu-ray I still believe it deserves the high
rating. It's an entertaining film about a serious subject, and handles it
perfectly.
Up in the Air also looks and sounds great on Blu-ray and I
recommend adding it to your collection today. Starring George Clooney,
Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick and Jason Bateman. Directed by Jason
Reitman. Special features on the Blu-ray release include commentary,
deleted scenes, a Sad Brad music video, and more. Film ***** Blu-ray ****
(out of 5 stars).
Read my original review of Up in the AirPrecious:
Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire - Claireece 'Precious' Jones
(Gabourey Sidibe) is a 16-year-old girl growing up in Harlem in 1987.
She is raped by her father and physically and psychologically abused by
her mother (Mo'Nique in an Oscar-winning role) on a regular basis. She's also morbidly obese and
doesn't have any friends.
Precious is a sad, depressing and shocking
film but is also a film I feel is important to see. Special features on
the DVD include commentary with director Lee Daniels, a featurette on
adapting the book into a film, deleted scenes, and more. Film **** DVD
*** (out of 5 stars).

Precious on DVD or Blu-rayCapitalism:
A Love Story - Oh, Michael Moore, how you've lost your edge and
have become just an annoying mouthpiece. In
Capitalism: A Love Story
Moore goes around showing us that greed is bad. And while some of it
works well, other parts, such as Moore with a blow-horn on Wall Street
taping off the stock exchange as a crime scene, are just pompous and
annoying. I know Moore wanted to get this out in a timely fashion during
the economic crisis but it feels rushed and is neither that informative
or entertaining. Special features include extra segments written and
directed by Moore. Film ** DVD ** (out of 5 stars).
