Passenger Side is an inner-city road trip movie
that has the same vibe as independent films from the early careers of
Richard Linklater (Slacker, SubUrbia) and Doug Liman (Swingers,
Go). The film is a glimpse at the day in the life of two
Canadian brothers dealing with a lot of personal and family issues while
living in L.A. As the day progresses, they keep meeting weirder and
weirder characters, such as a transvestite and an adult filmmaker.
Starring Adam Scott and Joel Bissonnette, and directed by Joel's brother
Matt, the film is refreshingly intelligent while being a hysterically funny comedy.
CityNews.ca
caught up with Matt, Joel, and Adam during the Toronto International
Film Festival last September where the film was running in the
Contemporary World Cinema programme. We talked about how important music
was to the film (the title comes from the Wilco song of the same name)
and why Joel and Adam want to blow up the car they used. Watch the full interview
below.
Passenger Side is in theatres April 30. Find out
more about the film at passengersidemovie.com.
