A Canadian version of
The Bachelor reality TV will debut north of the border in the fall.
The Bachelor Canada, which will be produced by Vancouver’s Force Four Entertainment and will air exclusively on Citytv next fall, will have nine episodes.
“Canada is brimming with eligible bachelors and bachelorettes and we’re excited to offer them the opportunity to embark on their own quest for love through this entertaining series,” Claire Freeland, director of original programming at Rogers Media and
The Bachelor Canada’s executive producer, said in a release.
“It’s about love, it’s about something that we all want, we’re all fighting for and whether you have it or not it’s something that we all desire,” said host Chris Harrison.
Casting for the first Canadian bachelorettes began Monday on
Citytv, and filming will begin in the spring.
Casting details for the country’s first bachelor will be announced at a later date.
The Bachelor franchise in the United States recently began its 16th season and there are versions of
The Bachelor and
The Bachelorette produced in 25 territories.
