A U.S. Republican presidential candidate will no longer use a K’naan song during his campaign stops, a spokesperson for Mitt Romney told CNN on Wednesday.

The Canadian singer-songwriter objected to the use of Wavin’ Flag played recently in Romney’s campaign.

“If I had been asked, I would certainly not have granted it. I would happily grant the Obama campaign use of my song without prejudice,” K’naan said in a statement Wednesday.

The song was used during Romney’s victory speech in Florida under a “blanket licence,” spokesperson Rick Gorka said. However, Romney’s campaign will no longer use it, he told the broadcaster.

Wavin’ Flag was the anthem for the 2010 World Cup.
