Singer Whitney Houston's daughter was one of the first to find out about her mother's untimely death.
According to
People magazine, 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina was in the lobby of Beverly Hills Hilton when Houston was found dead upstairs in the hotel.
Bobbi Kristina began screaming and was later hospitalized, according to the
magazine's website.
She was treated for stress and anxiety, and has since been released.
Meanwhile, a Los Angeles coroner's official said Sunday Houston was found in the bathtub, but added it will take weeks to figure out how the singer actually died.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told reporters Sunday afternoon that police had requested that no details about Houston's autopsy be publicly released. He said toxicology results would take weeks and the results were needed to determine how Houston died.
He said there were no signs of trauma on Houston's body.
Houston, whose soaring voice lifted her to the top of the pop music world but whose personal decline was fuelled by years of drug use, died on Saturday afternoon. She was 48.
"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney,” the family said in a statement.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends."
The cause of Houston's death was under investigation Saturday night, the eve of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Houston died at the same hotel where her mentor, record mogul Clive Davis, was holding an annual pre-event party featuring scores of music industry celebrities.
With hits like
I Will Always Love You - the theme song of what was her film acting debut in "The Bodyguard" opposite Kevin Costner in 1992 - and
The Greatest Love of All, Houston won six Grammys and more than 400 other awards in a 25-year career.
At Sunday night's Grammy awards, many fellow artists were speaking out on Houston's death.
Caleb Followill, from the Kings of Leon, said this year's Grammy red carpet felt eerily calm.
"It kind of feels strange. It's more peaceful. It's not as frantic as usual," said Followill. "It's crazy timing how it happened and it's so sad but I think everyone here are big fans of her music and so I don't know. It doesn't feel as crazy to me this year."
Dutch producer and DJ Afrojack couldn't help himself from singing "I Will Always Love You."
"I always loved the song "I Will Always Love You." That's how she touched me, " said Afrojack. "What I noticed that was most special about it was that it was more a celebration of her life than grief of her death. We had a moment of silence but after that, when the performances started, everyone was cheering along."
The Civil Wars, who picked up the Grammy for best Country Duo/group performance, reminisced on their memories of Houston.
"We both have confessed that we both sang in the mirror to a Whitney Houston song," said John Paul White.
"With a hairbrush," added Joy Williams.
"I tried to learn all those trills just as she did, I failed miserably," said White.
Houston was honored in the Grammy awards show, including a rendition of "I Will Always Love You" by Jennifer Hudson.
