The Los Angeles County Coroner's office is holding off on determining a cause of death in the passing of singing legend Whitney Houston, until all test results are in.

Coroner's assistant chief Ed Winter told a crowd of reporters that an autopsy on Houston was completed on Sunday.

"There will be no cause of death at this time," explained Winter. "Because it is pending toxicology and that could take up to 6 to 8 weeks.  At this time her cause of death is deferred and we are finishing with all of our testing and it will be an on-going investigation."

Winter's added that a "security hold" has been placed on the case, limiting the information that can be released. He did confirm though that Houston's body was found in the bathtub.

"I'll just comment that she was found in the bathtub, and that was put out by Beverly Hills P.D. I believe somebody removed her from the bathtub and the paramedics did CPR on her," said Winter. "There was no visible signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected at this time."

Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The pop icon was inspired by soul singers in her New Jersey family, including mother Cissy Houston and cousins Dionne Warwick and the late Dee Dee Warwick, as well as her godmother Aretha Franklin and became one of the most celebrated female singers of all time, taking multiple Emmy, Grammy and Billboard Music awards.

Her popularity soared in the 1980s and 1990s with consecutive number 1 hits including the smash single "I Will Always Love You," from the soundtrack of the feature film "The Bodyguard," in which she starred.

Whitney Houston was 48.
