An anonymous donor came through for a chalk artist and his ailing dog and now he wants to share the goodwill.

Dave “The Chalkmaster” Johnston has been producing sidewalk drawings for almost 20 years. But he decided to formally put his art up for sale after his dog Lady developed tumours and he couldn’t afford the vet bills.

He posted his story on Facebook and people responded. But one particular animal lover offered to pay for all of Lady’s procedures, including surgery scheduled for next week.

“It’s pretty amazing when you think about it,” Johnston said.

“In this era of greed and corruption, somebody just steps up out of nowhere and says, ‘Here.’ Just for no reason. Just a simple random act of kindness.”

Johnston now has hundreds of dollars more than needed, and wants to help another pet owner who can’t afford the medical bills.

To find out more, email Johnston at chalkmasterdave@gmail.com, or search for Chalkmaster Dave on Facebook.
