Low Calorie Cafe Opens To Big Crowds

You head to your favourite restaurant and everything looks so good on the menu, you don't know what to order first. The problem is eating out can also fill you out, with so many foods rich in everything that tastes good - which is usually fattening.

What can you do to prevent your money from going to 'waist?' Welcome to Four, a new restaurant at  187 Bay St. that promises each dish on its bill of fare contains no more than 650 calories.

The new trendy eatery opened for the first time on Thursday as an alternative to and reaction against the heavy business lunch.

And if the crowds are any indication, many are hungry for foods that don't expand your girth.

"The desserts were unbelievable. The fact that I only ate 800 calories. I could live with that," said restaurant goer Kelly LaPlante.

"We were impressed that everything was under 650 calories and it still retains some flavour. It doesn't taste like the typical health diet food."

The average person needs less than 2,000 calories a day. Some upscale restaurants offer that in just one meal.

While some people surveyed enjoyed the low-cal dishes, others wouldn't call themselves fans.

You be the judge.

Here's a look at just a few dishes that are on the menu.
