A Toronto native who's made it big south of the border is back home to promote a cause very dear to his heart.
"Will and Grace" star
Eric McCormack dropped into
Breakfast Television Tuesday to talk about the
Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraising campaign. The actor lost his mother to bladder cancer two years ago and his father is currently battling prostate cancer.
"It's also about fighting back, about saying that we're done," McCormack said about the Relay for Life effort.
"I want my son to look back on cancer the way we look at polio or the plague. There is no reason this has to go on."
McCormack said his family's experience with cancer has prompted him to work with a number of cancer charities.
"There's a potential to raise up to $50 million for the Canadian Cancer Society this year alone," the actor said.
The 12-hour run is taking place in Toronto in June. For more information on the event,
