Special Skin Cream May Help Stop Wrinkles

When you take a look at Carolyn Mullins' skin, you'd hardly guess she's 58 years old. Not even she's sure what her secret to looking young is, but new medical evidence suggests it could be partially the because of Retinol, or Vitamin A in her skin cream.

"I started using Retinol-A and I've noticed a marked improvement," Mullins admits.

It's no secret of youth that the drug is effective in battling the effects of sun damage, but a new U.S. study shows it can also combat wrinkles. How, you ask?

"It turns over the top part of the skin, the epidermis," said dermatologist Dr. Sandy Skotnicki-Grant.

" It also ... helps with the collagen, so that helps with the wrinkles and the anti-aging."

Retinol can be found in many mass market drug store brands, but for the even more potent Retin-A, you have to go through your doctor.

"If you really want to get some response to the skin, you're going to use the prescription grade," Skotnicki-Grant said, adding she herself uses the prescription stuff.

Of course as any doctor will tell you, the way the world is today, your best anti-aging aid is still sun screen.
