More than two-thirds of Ontarians plan to continue working into retirement, according to a recent CIBC poll.
The poll conducted by Harris/Decima reveals that 70 per cent of people in Ontario think they’ll continue some form of work in retirement, including starting their own businesses or working part time.
On a nation basis, the number declined slightly to 69 per cent with various age groups expressing how they’ll spend their retirement differently. For example, 80 per cent of those aged 18-24 believe they will work in retirement while 73 per cent of baby boomers think they’ll still go out and earn a paycheque.
"Our CIBC poll shows that Canadians don't view retirement as the end of their working lives," CIBC vice-president Christina Kramer said in a news release.
Earlier this year, a separate CIBC survey showed that retirement planning ranked among the top three financial priorities for Canadians in 2011, including boomers who counted it their top priority.
