Seeking a place to spend a Hard Day's Night? Then look no further than the world's first Beatle-themed hotel. It's located in - where else? - Liverpool, the birthplace of the Fab Four.
The
Hard Day's Night Hotel boasts 110 rooms and is just steps away from the site of the
Cavern Club where the group originally rose to fame. Guests can choose from the Lennon or McCartney suites. What's the difference?
The former is an all White Room (with apologies to Cream, who had the hit with that tune), and features a trademark baby white grand piano that Lennon favoured, along with pictures of the late musician.
McCartney's suite also speaks of Yesterday, and boasts a suit of armour representing his knighthood. One thing you won't find - any leather, because of the singer's devotion to the vegan cause.
There's no immediate word on a George or Ringo room, although the noise from the latter might keep you up all night anyway.
The hotel also has a bar and a restaurant that play nothing but Beatles' music, and there's even a wedding chapel if it turns out She Loves You. There are also specially commissioned pictures of the Beatles in every room, showing the story of the group from their lowly beginnings (on the bottom floor) to their world triumph (near the roof.)
And how much will it cost you to take this Magical Mystery Tour? It's about Cdn$330 a night for an ordinary room, but the Lennon and McCartney suites will have you singing a chorus of "Give Me Money." They run an astounding Cdn$1,200-plus for a 24 hour respite.
It's an expensive stay and the founders have so far discovered money can buy them love. "The phones haven't stopped ringing," confirms spokesman Johnny Lockwood. "Interest has come as far afield as Croatia, Russia, Japan, obviously America and there's been huge interest from Brazil even."
The hotel opened on February 1st, and isn't the only Beatle-themed event this week. NASA is set to send one of the Mop Top's biggest hits into space on Monday, aimed at the North Star.
