General Motors has recalled almost 250,000 crossover vehicles worldwide because of a seatbelt problem.

The company announced the recall on Tuesday, saying it applies to 2009-2010 models of the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook.

Most of the 243,403 vehicles were sold in the United States, but some are on the roads in Canada, Mexico and elsewhere.

When the second-row seat is put back in an upright position, it could damage the seatbelt buckle, making it appear to latch when it hasn’t.

The Detroit automaker said none of its customers had reported the seatbelt malfunctioning during a crash.

GM will send owners a letter instructing them to get the problem fixed at a dealer.
