The body of Jordan Morrison, the 19-year-old man beaten to death outside a Punta Cana nightclub earlier this month was scheduled to make the trip home Saturday night.

An autopsy is scheduled for the next few days, and the Morrison family has begun to make funeral arrangements.

Reports out this weekend state that one of the accused in Morrison’s death, Dmyitro Aref Yev of Montreal, is already facing charges in what’s being called a botched heist.

CBC reported Aref Yev was one of three men involved in the attempted theft of an ATM machine on January 4. He failed to appear for a January 18 court date.

A few months before that, Aref Yev had started serving a two-year probation term after pleading guilty to assault with a weapon causing harm.

The other man charged in Morrision’s death is Algerian national Bouzid Redha, also of Montreal. CBC reports he is awaiting trial in Montreal on four charges, including attempted theft over $5,000 in a November incident.

Both men are being held in Punta Cana in connection with Morrison’s death.

Morrison, who was on a family vacation at the time, died on his way to hospital. It’s believed he had Asperger’s syndrome, a mild form of autism.

The brawl reportedly began when Morrison stood up for a Guelph woman when another man began harassing her.

Another Canadian woman, who returned home from the same resort Monday morning, told CityNews the same men accused in Jordan's beating assaulted her a few days before the fatal incident.

"One night in front of the disco they were getting into an argument, all I said to them was, 'calm down, we're on vacation.'  The guy punched me in the side of the face."

Three other men were originally held in the case, but have since been released without charges.
