For many Torontonians, you have to see it to believe it.
The price at the pumps jumped once again Saturday in Toronto by 2.8 cents to 134.9 per cents a litre.
A year ago at this time, Torontonians were paying $1.00 for a litre of gas.
“This has happened so quickly. Almost eight cents, 8.8 cents in one week, or in the span of three or four days is almost unprecedented. It’s clear that Canadians are being ripped off,” said Liberal MP and gas price watchdog Dan Mcteague.
The rising price of gas is being blamed on Mideast tensions. Since the conflict in Libya began in mid-February essentially taking Libyan oil out of the marketplace, the price of crude oil has jumped 28 per cent.
Prices at the pumps have spiked all across Canada. In Vancouver, prices have hit 141.3 in some areas, making it the most expensive city in the country to fill up.
On the east coast, prices in Newfoundland are sitting at 138.7 cents a litre in some areas.
