Students at Mother Teresa Catholic School are denying media reports that a gang war is brewing at their campus.
The bad press comes after back to back stabbings -- one on Monday, and
another Tuesday afternoon. Both victims attended the learning institution, which is situated in the Malvern area of the GTA. But the attacks took place off school property.
"There are just dumb kids from the school," admits student Kaitlin. "There's been lots of crazy stuff going on, lots of fights, people trying to stab each other."
There has been speculation that racial tensions between black and Tamils sparked the violence, but students deny the claim.
"There's no war between Tamils and blacks because most of them are friends, you understand? So I don't really appreciate that," said Onika.
The school was inundated with calls from parents Wednesday wondering if it was safe to send their kids to school.
Police say that Mother Teresa is not known as a problem school and teachers say the stabbings are unrelated. One victim was trying to break up a fight while the other stabbing was the result of a robbery.
A 14-year-old student was led away in handcuffs following Monday's attack. He's been charged with assault with a weapon.
