Thieves Try To Rob Bar Where Biker Gang Is Meeting

Here's a cautionary tale for any thieves - if you're going to rob a place, make sure you know who's in it. That's a lesson two would-be armed robbers in Sydney, Australia learned the hard way late Wednesday night, after they allegedly put on ski masks and burst into a local pub brandishing machetes.

They demanded cash and ordered everyone in the place to lie down on the floor.

What they didn't know was that about 50 members of a local motorcycle gang were in the next room, about to have a meeting. When they heard the commotion, the bikers ran into the bar area and confronted the surprised suspects. One robber tried to flee by leaping over a balcony, while the other turned tail and headed straight for the exit.

The latter one didn't made it. "We caught him at the fence and crash-tackled him and hog-tied him to the ground and waited for the police to get there," a club member identified only as "Jester" explains.

The other suspect was captured in a far more traditional manner - by police as he attempted to run away.

The burly biker believes the two men didn't see the gang members because of the masks over their heads and walked right by them before making their demands.

"I don't think he did his homework very well," Jester notes about the suspected ringleader of the duo. "He picked the wrong night."
