Man Dies After Car Goes Over Scarborough Bluffs

A man driving a Porsche somehow took a deadly turn, winding up flying off the edge of the Scarborough Bluffs at the start of rush hour Friday.

It happened just after 3pm on Greyabbey Trail, near Morningside and Guildwood.

When the vehicle landed, the man behind the wheel wasn't in it. The unnamed victim was ejected in mid-air, and wound up crashing into the chilly waters below.

The older model sports car was seen dangling in the muddy brush, and as the Toronto Police Marine Unit moved in for a rescue, hopes faded.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still probing the incident, but say it appears the middle aged man drove through a yard and right over the edge of the Bluffs into the chasm below.

His body has been brought back to the morgue at the downtown Marine Unit.

Experts from Traffic Services and detectives at 43 Division are working together to determine who he is, and if this was deliberate or the product of some kind of mechanical or medical failure.
