A woman has died after a fire broke out in a
Stoney Creek townhouse overnight.
Shortly before 2am Sunday, the Hamilton fire department responded to the residence, where they found a mattress fire in a second-floor bedroom and a woman with severe burns.
She was rushed to the Hamilton General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
