The SIU is investigating after a
standoff in Barrie left one man dead and sent two police officers to hospital.
Rookie Constables Clayton Speers, 29, and David Edgar, 26, were responding to a call outside a busy mall on
Bayfield Street near Highway 400 at about 10:30am on Sunday when they confronted a man who allegedly lunged at them with a sharp object, stabbing one officer in the arm and the other in the neck.
The Barrie Police officers then allegedly shot the man dead.
