Extreme Weather Brings Down Trees, Hydro Poles

The GTA woke up to some nasty weather Saturday morning.

With the potential for large hail and damaging winds, Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm warnings and watches for much of Southern Ontario, including Hamilton, Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Toronto.

And while the skies did open up here in the city, Mississauga had it much worse. A nearly century-old tree on Cawthra Road fell over, bringing down dozens of hydro poles with it. Hydro crews were working to get power back up by the day's end, but the mess will likely take longer to clean up.
